“First Jellycat! Start of a Ricky empire?”

My mother purchased him for me for Christmas. He was not on my list, but she said she "just couldn't resist" getting him—and once I held him I could definitely see why. He is so goofy and cute in his little festive costume coupled with his grouchy frown. He is also very soft and has adorable dangly legs. Ricky ended up being my favourite present by far, and I carried him around everywhere with me for weeks.

Forget the Elf, Ricky is such an amazing addition to our family. I wasn’t sold on the fact that he frowns but my daughter talked me into him and I love him!! Even his frown makes me smile. Don’t hesitate!

I love Ricky Rain Frog in his Christmas Tree Costume. The Down turned mouth says it all... and it certainly speaks to me! I am not a Natural Christmas Tree either... I get that feeling of being "all dressed up" but being a little uncomfortable about it. That's what makes me want to hug Ricky and his dour expression just tugs a my heart! It makes me smile, and makes me want to show him the best holiday he's experienced, thus far!

I was not able to nab a Christmas Tree Ricky frog in 2024. However in the fall of 2025 he was restocked and was an immediate purchase and I'm so glad!! The tree outfit is firmer, but he more so oversees the holiday decorations than a cuddle friend. Plus I'm consistently grinning passing him by.

I think Ricky Rain Frog's Christmas Tree look is my favorite Jellycat costume of all time! I had to have him after seeing the animation of him dressed up as a tree stand mascot... I live in a city where tree stands on the city walk are a hallmark of the holiday season. Ricky's costume is detailed and sturdy, but he's still soft and ready for a cuddle. It is worth noting that, unlike some other Jellycats, his costume is not removeable. He's just really committed to the gig.
